FAQ

DO I HAVE TO BE A MEMBER TO PARTICIPATE?

No you don't need to be a member - we welcome everybody. Whilst this seasons supporters badges are selling fast at £10 each and can be purchased at one of our meets should you wish to buy one. We also encourage you become a member of our Facebook group to find out the latest Information and events we are running. 

HOW OFTEN DOES BANWEN MINERS BLOODHOUNDS MEET?

Throughout the hunting season we meet every Sunday. Although we also run out of season events to maintain the social aspect of the hunt.

HOW DO I JOIN A MEETING FOR THE FIRST TIME?

Its as simple as finding the location of the hunt and coming along. Up to date events can be found in our Facebook group.

ARE ANIMALS HARMED?

No Animals are Harmed, in fact we care for our hounds and horses with the upmost care. With all animal welfare being are upmost priority.

WHAT IS CLEAN BOOT HUNTING?

It is all the thrill and excitement of a day hunting. Without any animals being harmed . In fact we chase Human runners who build a rapport with the hounds we don't use any artificial scents to get the hounds attentions.

CAN CHILDREN HUNT?

In fact we run Child specific hunt days. The same as the adult hunting day with slight less distance and intensity an ideal way for your little one to be introduced into the world of hunting.

WHAT DO I WEAR?

Hunt season - Hunt jacket Navy Black or tweed, Cream or Beige jodhpurs and white shirt and stock. Dark boots and helmet. (see the sub header "Etiquette" for full details)

Off season - Comfortable riding attire

We will be out in most weather so also bring a waterproof jacket

 IS THERE JUMPING INVOLVED?

No as a fast safe hunt is our primary goal, but feel free to jump any natural obstacles on route such as fallen trees

WHAT SAFETY IS INVOLVED?

Safety equipment such as a Helmet and riding boots must be worn at all times. (please see the sub header tab "Etiquette" for more details)
Follow the Instruction of Hunt staff at all time in particular the field master who's job is to ensure the safety of the riders. and finally be aware of horses wearing tail ribbons.

WHAT DO VARIOUS TAIL RIBBONS MEAN?

Red - May kick, strikeout or buck
Green - Young or inexperienced can be unpredictable.
Blue/Yellow - Stallion

WHAT HAPPENS TO MONEY RAISED BY THE HUNT?

The primary use is the upkeep of the hounds for example feed and bedding but it is also put back into enhancing future meets. We are a working mans cleanboot hunt and will often participate in fund raisers to help local communities.

 WHO ARE THE HUNT STAFF ?

They are general distinguished by them wearing a red hunt jacket with (Glebe) grey collar. some of their pictures are to be found on the home page. How ever some of the senior members will have ground roles and will be wearing normal attire.
